This above picture of "Bones" was taken the day before we purchased him.

Purchased and picked up "Bones", brought him to Patterson Farm. We began feeding him about a half
a pound of Senior Feed twice a day, access to Bermuda hay and fresh clean water.
We had to start "Bones" slowly because his system was not accustomed to grain.

We took pictures of "Bones" and measured him for height and weight. He is 16 hands tall and
according to the weight tape he weighs approximately 820 pounds.

"Bones" was wormed for five days in a row with SafeGuard paste wormer. This is called a power dose
and it removes encysted strongyles, this eliminates the bloated look of the horses belly.

Dr, Logan King, from McDonough Animal Hospital gave "Bones" his check-up. "Bones" was de-wormed,
vaccinated, had blood drawn for tests, and had dental work done, including a tooth extraction. Dr. King's assessment of "Bones"
was that he was just in need of some groceries and he commented, "That old age is not a disease".

Someone reported "Bones" to Henry County Animal Control. Everyday, throughout the day there is
someone at the farm, and this person could have stopped by to ask about "Bones".
Animal Control came out and could not make a determination so they called in Georgia Department of
Agriculture. The agent that came out was very pleased with all of our efforts with "Bones", and gave us the okay, so
to speak.
Anyway, I just wish that people would not assume, and make the effort to ask, before jumping to conclusions.
We have thirteen other horses on the property who are all very well fed and quite healthy.

Just a couple of pictures below of "Bones". We all want him to gain faster, but we can't flood
his system with stuff he can't handle yet.

We had a 4-H Fun Day at Patterson Farm and Bones had his picture taken with all the kids in our 4-H
Horse Club.
With so much attention from so many kids, Bones was in heaven. He loves attention.
Bones has been with us for 67 days. He is making amazing progress. I just cannot say enough good
things about this horse and this experience. He is just a really special animal.
Bones spent a fun day at the
Henry County Fair on October 7,2006.
He was pampered and loved by everyone.
Bones was the horse used for many of the demonstrations given by the members of

Bones is now being cared for by foster mom Paula Spain and her daughter Rachel.
They fell head over heels in love with him and Taylor and Jonni decided to let him go to them. They
each have horses of their own and felt like he would receive undivided attention with Paula and Rachel.
The lessons that we have all learned from the gentle loving spirit of this horse are inmeasurable.
I have never been around a more pleasant and agreeable horse.
I know he is showing all of us how grateful he is to be loved and taken care of now.

Bones is now back being fostered by Julie Sheppard along with her nephew Fletcher Reed who is nine
years old.
This is Fletcher's first experience being around horses, and he has fallen in love with Bones.
Being new to the horse world, Fletcher could not ask for a better teacher than Bones. He is gentle,
and willing and adjusts his actions to the level of the rider on his back.
